Clean Water Damage Questions
It is a the easiest type of water damage for us to deal with. We consider the following to determine the nature of the water:
- What Was the Original Source of the Leak?
- How Long has the Water Been Standing in Your Home?
- Do You Have Cats or Dogs in The House?
There are Many Sources of Clean Water in a Home.
Examples Are:
- Toilet cistern leaks. This should not be confused with water coming from the toilet bowl. Can cause extensive damage.
- Hot water system leaks. Depending on the HWS location and size, the water damage in your home may be extensive.
- Water bed leaks. Slight leaks may only affect one room. In more serious cases, many areas of your home may be affected.
- Bursting or leaking flexi hoses. Typically found under a sink or inside the vanity cupboard. This type of water damage can be quite extensive.
- Rain or hail coming through an open window. Generally minor water damage. It does depend on the severity of the rain/hail.
- Bath overflows. In this case we are referring to the bath without soap and before human contact.

FACT CHECK:
You may not understand how far the water damage has migrated in your property.
Professional water damage inspection will show you the true damage that has occurred in your property. We use moisture meters and thermal imaging to get an accurate idea of the extent of your water ingress.
Why is it Important to Know What Caused the Leak?
Melbourne Flood Emergency technicians are trained to make sure the water source is correctly identified. Contaminated water may pose a health threat to you and your family. Making sure that the water is clean, helps us to complete the appropriate work place safety assessment.
There are added factors in play. The class of the water impacts our PPE and procedures. The restoration process is also influenced by this determination. The more contaminated water is, the harder it becomes to restore carpets and contents fully.

When Did the Water Damage Event Occur?
Clean water will not remain without bacteria if allowed to dwell long enough.
According to IICRC guidelines, it takes 48 hours to go from clean to grey water and another 48 hours to be classed as black water.
It is vital that you do not delay calling us if you have suffered water damage.
Why do We Want to Know if You Have Pets?
Dogs and cats may contaminate your carpets. Water ingress may spread the damage to other parts of the house. Water that was clean now becomes black water. This influence our restoration and sanitisation protocols.

Costing Our Restoration Work.
Professional water damage restoration is not cheap. Our technicians will furnish you with a detailed breakdown of the restoration costs involved. Do not be tempted to do nothing or opt for an extraction only option.
FACT CHECK:
Uncompleted/amateur restoration leads to secondary damage.
We know it is tempting to try and save money. Everybody feels that way. When water damages a property, it is best to do things by the book. It is true to say that most carpet cleaners are not professional water damage restorers. They lack the training, equipment and experience required.
