Mould Removal
Mould removal is a very specialised part of our restoration work. You may have come across the phrase “secondary damage.” This is quite often where the original water ingress was not restored properly.
Our Specialist Mould Remediation Process
- Uses Fully Trained Experts.
- Installs Only The Most Modern Air Purification Equipment.
- Applies The Latest Laboratory Testing.
Why Secondary Damage Occurs
There are a few examples of why this happens:
Example One:
- You experience water damage but decide not to do anything about it because of the restoration costs involved.
- You have a significant insurance excess and do not want to make an insurance claim.
- And so, no water restoration work is carried out.
Example Two:
- The water damage took place whilst you were away. By the time you return, carpets and soft furnishings have dried out.
- No water restoration work is carried out.
Example Three:
- You underestimate the extent of the water damage.
- You call a water damage restorer and direct them to concentrate only on the obviously affected areas.
Trying to save money could again be the reason for cutting corners. Some parts of the affected property are never cleaned, dried or sanitised. Partial water damage restoration is undertaken.
Example Four:
The water damage technician underestimates the extent of the water damage. Often, carpet cleaners are called in for a water damage assessment. They are not trained to do the work properly and lack the appropriate moisture-measuring equipment. Untrained restorers will do a poor job. You do not want to pay twice for work to be done correctly.
Example Five:
Loss adjusters direct water damage restorers to only work in parts of the home. They may also place a limit on the amount of drying equipment. This decision is purely based on trying to limit the restoration costs and not about thorough restoration. This is another example of partial restoration leading to mould incubation.
Example Six:
The water damage restoration work is carried out by following IICRC best practices. Drying equipment is installed to dry your structure and contents. Our technicians returned to find that our equipment had been switched off. To make matters worse, the customer decided that everything was dry and asked that our machines be removed.
Mould Incubation Cause Health Issues.
Mould can cause skin allergies, asthma or rhinitis. Things get even worse with green-black mould. This type of mould can depress the immune system in older people and young children.
Sick House Syndrome.
Sick House Syndrome is often caused by secondary damage after a water event. Excess mould incubation could be a leading factor in making your home unliveable.

The 3 Different Types of Water Damage
CLEAN WATER DAMAGE
This is the easiest type of water damage for us to deal with. We use moisture meters and thermal imaging to get an accurate idea of the extent of your water ingress.
Professional inspection will show you the true damage.
Contaminated water may pose a health threat to you and your family. Making sure the water is clean helps us complete the appropriate workplace safety assessment.
GREY WATER DAMAGE
The classification of this water damage class is perhaps the most complicated. The water can initially be quite clean.
Our technicians will look at factors to determine the water classification.
As the days go by the contamination will increase to the level where it is classed as black water instead of grey.
BLACK WATER DAMAGE
This is the most severe type of water damage. It causes significant damage to contents and structures. Most of the damage cannot be restored.
This level of water damage is best left to the professionals.
Black water can have a distinct odour. There are quite often visual markers present, thus making correct classification easy.
